Join us for an evening celebrating hope, restoration, and the quiet brilliance of the Western Monarch—complete with drinks to toast the work of conservation and renewal.
We’ll begin with There Once Were Millions, a photographic journey by Elizabeth Weber that blends art and science into a stunning call to protect one of California’s most iconic species. As the evening unfolds, gather for a conversation with leaders shaping the intersection of conservation, art, and clean technology. Finally, enjoy a short film on how a Rivian R1S is being used to help save the monarchs on The West Marin Monarch Sanctuary.
Elizabeth Weber, Photographer
David Hochschild, Chair, California Energy Commission
Ole Schell, EV Filmmaker & Founder, West Marin Monarch Sanctuary
Mia Monroe, Cofounder & Coordinator, Western Monarch Count
Audrey Fusco, Restoration Ecologist
Together, they’ll explore how habitat renewal, community science, innovative climate solutions, and EVs can help bring the monarch back from the brink.
We’ll close with a short film by Ole Schell and Demetrius Borge, capturing the creation of a monarch and pollinator sanctuary on his family’s Niman/Schell Ranch in West Marin—a testament to resilience, electrification of his project and vehicles, land stewardship, and the profound impact of restoring land in harmony with the natural world.
See you there!
