Join us for a night of live music celebrating local culture with Cadmus Culture Preservation.Â
Birthed in Encinitas, California, Cadmus Cultural Preservation is a non-profit devoted to supporting our unique local culture. We have a passion for archiving the music, art, oral history, and cultural landmarks that define our home. Laguna Beach, a city that has done an amazing job supporting and preserving the arts, has been a big inspiration for Cadmus.Â
Two of Southern California's best bands will be sharing their music. The Long View, a self-taught family band of 4 siblings, will open the night up. These kids will blow you away and leave you with a strong hope for the future. They like to dabble with most genres, including surf music, which is truly a local art form and rare style to hear done so well. Mitchum Yacoub and his large ensemble will be closing out the evening. Originality, musicianship, and a massive sound are three marks keeping the band on the road and a fast-growing festival favorite. As a lifelong drummer that has supported many projects in the vein of Afrobeat, Soul, Funk, and Reggae, he's been slow brewing a unique feel for roots and dance music. Inspired by artists like Fela Kuti, Dr. Dre, and James Brown, his group harkens back to Africa in the 70’s with the bass and drums turned up a notch.
